February 2012

In early February 2012, the New Jersey Notary Association has had a change in leadership. As the new President, I am honored to represent my fellow notaries public.

My first thought was where do I begin, how do I improve the association, how do I grow the association, and what do the current members and future members truly want from the association? In other words, what are the goals and visions of not just me but everyone that is part of the NJNA.

Speaking for myself, the first task at hand would be to grow! There are over 122,000 notaries in the State of New Jersey and only a small fraction of those are NJNA members. I envision a membership drive that involves all of us.

I’ve done some searching online and came across a remarkable notary association. The Louisiana Notary Association http://www.lna.org/home.cfm?s=1001265 is definitely something we can all aspire to. In addition, I found that Montana is having their first statewide event in May for their notaries public. How exciting is that! Montana’s 2012 Notary Conference can be found here http://sos.mt.gov/notary/Conference/index.asp. I encourage you to click on the links and check them out for yourself.

There will be five general membership meetings held this year. Our first one is scheduled for March 10. We will be having a guest speaker at this meeting and at other future meetings as well. The website will give you more information on dates, times, and locations. If you’re not a member of the NJNA but are thinking about becoming one, you are welcome to come to a meeting as our guest.

Check out the links provided. Then let me know what your goals and visions are for the New Jersey Notary Association. I’d love to hear from everyone! You can either submit your thoughts and comments using the online suggestion box or contacting me directly at president@newjerseynotaryassociation.org.

Again, thank you for this opportunity to represent you!

Ann Laurie Fratticcioli
President

Kudos to Montana’s Governor!

A few days ago Governor Brian Schweitzer of Montana vetoed legislation that would remove the requirement for Notaries Public in Montana to maintain a Notary Journal. I applaud Governor Schweitzer for making a stand and vetoing this legislation. His notice of veto to Montana Secretary of State, Linda McCulloch really hits home on the importance of maintaining records for the protection of the citizens of Montana.

Thank you Governor Schweitzer for making this important decision.

Let’s Grow Together!

In March of 2011, the membership of the New Jersey Notary Association elected a new Board of Directors. This election created a new dynamic of leadership that is fully dedicated to the exploration of fresh ideas, renewed growth and added member benefits. The decisions made over the next several months will create the critical foundation for our growth and expansion.

As the newly elected President, I am exceptionally humbled by the trust and faith that has been presented to me. I am also overflowing with excitement! Ideas have been pouring in and nothing would please me more than to explore your ideas as well:

-What benefits would you like to see added in the next year?
-What ideas do you have to increase membership?
-Do you have special skills that could benefit our growth?
-Are you interested in new volunteer opportunities?|
-Do you have a website? Are you interested in link exchange?

We want to hear from you! Your comments, suggestions and feedback are very important to our cause. My door remains open, anytime, 24/7. Please submit your feedback using our online suggestion box. If you prefer to contact me directly, I encourage you to do so.

Thank you for your continued support of the New Jersey Notary Association.
LET’S GROW TOGETHER!

Patrick Anthony
